Urpi Rug, Medium
W143cm x L163cm
Handwoven in Peru
Handwoven in the Andean Mountains from pure sheep’s wool, the soft, thick yarn of this cosy rug is a homely addition to our sustainable collection. Skilfully constructed on traditional looms a meter wide, our larger rugs are created by joining together two independently woven panels. The natural yarn is hand spun and dyed by local artisans, then carefully woven into a unique design that reflects the rich cultural heritage of the area. Ideal for bedrooms and living areas, the Urpi rug provides a subtle introduction of pattern for a pared back, bohemian feel.
Steeped with tradition, the weaving process is an integral part of Quechuan culture passed down through the generations. These striking frazadas help to keep that heritage alive providing fair pay and employment opportunities to local craftspeople and preserving traditional techniques. Naturally dyed from regional plants, herbs and botanicals, each piece is carefully sourced directly from the communities where they were made.
Wool is naturally self-cleaning. Hoover with care. Air outside to refresh your rug and spot clean spillages with warm water and a mild wool detergent to avoid discolouration. Professionally clean if required.
