The term Shou Sugi Ban 焼杉板 translates simply to ‘burnt cedar board’. A treatment used to preserve wood by charring it with fire, it was traditionally applied to Japanese Cedar. In our solid pine coat racks it has been used to draw out the natural grain of the pine resulting in a striking, unique finish. 

Produced in small batches from a home studio in Sussex, these beautiful natural racks can be custom made to your preferred dimensions and number of hooks or personally engraved. Please email us for bespoke orders.
